Man about town Le Champ is a fashion photographer with a deep musical history and organizer of CONTROL party.
Tokyo Based fashion photographerJacob Hodgkinson AKA Le Champ has been Djing since 1993 when he started spinning Hardcore/ Rave and soon moved on to DJ at bars and clubs around Brighton + London, UK. He then launched Dimensions Of Sound at the age of 17, a monthly Drum & Bass event which ran for 6 years, and showcased new talent along side D&B’s heavy hitters and DJ’ed alongside Goldie, Peshay, Kenny Ken, friction, Bailey, Mampi Swift. Since moving to Tokyo he has rekindled a passion for Acid House and Rave and launched CONTROL Acid House / Madchester party with Gypsy Badman. He can be seen regularly DJing at various parties in Shibuya.
We asked him a few questions over a pint ahead of this weeks SHORT PANTS PARTY: GIRLS vs BOYS event where he’ll be joining our DJ cast to play some sweet sounds….here’s what the man thinks about all the importan stuff…
What is gonna big this Christmas?
My fat stomach!!!! I’m going back home to UK for two weeks so I will be eating and drinking as much as possible 
What has been the highlight of your year?
Shooting lots of great models and working for excellent magazines, my work being featured on Japanese TV….and of course CONTROL parties have been INSANE!!
Who is your favourite musician of all time?
Tough to say, changes all the time, at the moment i’m listening to a lot of Gregory Isaacs and Mazy Star… favorite band of all time? probably The Stranglers.
Where’s your favourite place in Tokyo?
Specific place? I like Eau Cafe in Daikanyama,,nice food/good
vibes….for chilling I like sunny afternoons at Saigoyama Koen in Daikanyama,
What are your favourite fashion brands and styles?
I like mixing and matching, bit of vintage, bit of designer brand, bit of high street…
What was the last thing you bought?
CD-Rs and milk
What was the last song you listened to?
Ian Dury – Dance Little Rudeboy…just watched the film about him (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll), so he features heavily on my current playlist
What’s your karaoke song?
Barry Manilow – Copacabana!
Who is the coolest guy or girl you know?
Every girl and every guy out there having fun and getting loose,,,if you’re enjoying it your ok with me.
