Goldie Lookin’ Chain or GLC are a bunch of ‘novelty rappers’ from Wales. They released there first album – ‘Don’t Blame The Chian’ a whole 10 years ago and 2011 sees the boys drop their 13th release ‘BLUE WAFFLE‘. To celebrate the release we hooked up with Rhys aka P.Xain to ask a few questions…
Hello Rhys, could you introduce yourself for our Japanese fans?…
I’m Rhys from GLC, I’m a music producer, rapper and a life coach.
You’re from Newport, Wales. Sorry but we have never been, could you describe it for us?
It’s the best place to go on holiday or if you want to get a really good taste of life in the UK. It has shops, pubs and loads of people who like to drink and enjoy life at a slower more relaxed pace.

Charlie Church does a bit of opera, Duffy writes and Tom Jones is the ultimate crooner… Who are your favourite Welsh singers/bands?
I love charlie church as she has a great voice and loves to get drunk, Tom Jones likes the ladies and he is well safe, Duffy I met her and she seems nice. The Super Furry Animals are the best band in the world, Stereophonics are very good too. Bob Marley is from Wales too, well his dad was, he is dead though and his dad’s dead too.
How did you all get into music? Why Gangsta Rap?
It’s not gangsta rap, it’s folk rap or novelty hip hop. We have always loved hip hop and non of the others can play any instruments so we didn’t have may options. We wanted to form a prog rock band but hip hop is far more fun, so glad we went for hip hop. Music is the third most important thing in my life.
We stand corrected… Tupac had Biggie, Kayne has Taylor Swift, who is your musical nemesis?
Sting, I fucking hate Sting, who calls themselves Sting? Imagine all the other members of the Police, no wonder they hate him, they must have been like “im called Stewart and he is called Andy and he is called Sting. What a bellend.
Do you all get along off stage?
When we finish a gig I get a limo to my helicopter then go to my private jet and fly back to my mansion in France, don’t really speak to the others, we do email sometimes.
We’ve heard that you have a fair amount of funny nicknames… Who’s got the best nickname?
King Dickhead is the best one.
Blue Waffle is your latest studio album, we remember your first, but, is it still good fun making music?
It’s always fun making music, It’s the best thing, I cant make much else, I’m a good cook and thats good too but I can’t make anything out of wood. I like making fires too, it’s great fun burning stuff.

What’s next for the GLC?
I’m Writing a movie and me and Eggsy are DJing world wide and also working on the Radio in Wales doing a show about the rugby world cup!
