As the most incredible SHORT PANTS PARTY 2.0 draws ever closer, we want to introduce you to a very special DJ duo: the final DJs of the nights and our very own party destroyers THE 9/11s. This pair are the worst DJs you will ever hear – it truly has to be seen to be believed. They’re a man-made disaster, they put the
Hit in sHit and they are fantastic.
The 9/11s consist of DJ Little Lenny Henry and DJ Little Leslie Nielsen, a UK/Jamaican hybrid who met in a dirty Shibuya hole just a few months ago and have been making dirty beats, sickening rhymes and
poofjuice together ever since. They made their debut at our CONTROL party last month, transforming Trump House into Tokyo Ground Zero the moment their set started.
We had a quick interview with them
1- What is going to be big this year?
DJ Little Leslie Nielsen: Baltimore diarrhea wave I feel is going to make an intense comeback. It’s all about bootie movement.
DJ Little Lenny Henry: Baltimore Diarrhea Wave, Bell Biv Devoe and Bill Clinton.
2- Who are your favorite musicians of all time?
DJLLN: Busta Rhymes. And Busta Rhymes. And the fugees. And also the fugees. And Missy Elliot too.
DJLLH: Teddy Riley, R Kelly, Missy Elliott and M.I.A.
3- Where is your favorite place in Tokyo?
DJLLN: Kiba park with the Museum of contemporary art Tokyo. It’s such an unassuming family oriented park with probably one of the best arts institutions in Tokyo right in it. That’s where I go to relax unwind. I meditate on life. Think about why the hustle and game is so tuff.
DJLLH: In the daytime, anywhere with grass to lie down on and hang out on a sunny day. At night, Shimokitazawa is great. Full of weirdos, stumbling out from izakayas to catch their last train, or just roaming around the station wondering what they’re doing…
4- What are your favorite fashion brands or styles?
DJLLN: The last time I bought something the old woman in the store was like ”these tights are for housewives you know ” and I was like” I know but I still want them”
DJLLH: I saw this 4 year-old kid wearing a radical t-shirt which was just loads of bananas printed onto a grey t-shirt. If I could find that in my size, I’d be all over it.
5- What is the last thing you bought?
DJLLN: A vending machine dekavita ( the soda fountain type. No Ice! (unless it’s blinging.)
DJLLH: I paid my gas bill. Apart from that and lunch, the last thing I bought was my fancy M.I.A. tickets.
6- What is the last song you listened to?
DJLLN: Ready For The World – “Yo” That’s A Lot Of Body” (DJ Little Lenny Henry set me up with that one).
DJLLH: Fannypack – “Do It To It”. Expect a lot of Booty Bounce during our set on Saturday.
7- Who are the coolest people in Tokyo at the moment?
DJLLN: I don’t know. The 9/11′s? (that’s a funny joke).
DJLLH: My homies Tori, Hyeon Hong and Mion.
8- Please recommend a new artist
DJLLN: Sissy Nobby (new and amazing to me).
DJLLH: SALMAN – Bazz & Kido Yoji’s new band. Their song ‘North’ is wicked – check their myspace.
9- Fuji Rock or Summer Sonic?
DJLLN: Fuji rock but I’ve never been :”(
DJLLH: Fuji Rock for sure. This year’s highlights were Dexpistols live and the great Jaegermeister theft. Summer Sonic’s highlights were destroying my new shorts and the great Jonsi cryfest.
10- Tokyo or Osaka?
DJLLN: Osaka people in Tokyo.
DJLLH: Tokyo people in Osaka (hello Sugichu).
Finally, what do you never leave your house without?
DJLLN: iPooood and iPhone (but I hate Steve jobs. Because I know when the robots take over and shoot me in the face in front of my family, he’ll be there laughing like the shit-head douchebag he is).
