This is Mike & Matt, aka Matt & Mike, aka Gypsy Badman.
Gypsy Badman organize parties in Tokyo and the UK, such as Short Pants Party and Control, as well as DJing at weddings, school discos and bar mitzvahs.
They (we?) got bored, and self-righteously answered a few of their (our?) own questions. Very droll…
1- What is going to be big this year?
Mike- O.Children and Little Comets. I hope so anyway. O.Children are a brilliant band from London, and Little Comets are a band from my hometown that make excellent indie-pop music. I really hope they’ll be in Japan sometime soon!
Matt- Control! A new ‘Madchester’ party that I’ve heard is coming to Tokyo soon…!
2- Who is your favorite musician of all time?
Oasis or Paul Weller.
Kraftwerk, Jazzanova and De La Soul.
3- Where is your favorite place in Tokyo?
Harajuku during the day, Nakameguro at night. I love Shonan in the summer too!

4- What are you favorite fashion brands and styles?
Favorite brand is Fred Perry. As for style, I like slim jeans, long sleeved shirts buttoned right-up, and a nice little hat. I love the style of the Mods and the Rude-boys.
I like the “I’ve-just-thrown-this-together” look. Anything that fits my arms is good. At the moment I’m enjoying wingtips and roll-necks.
5- What is the last thing you bought?
A pair of suede Brogues.
A wireless printer.
6- What is the last song you listened to?
Little Comets – Isles.
The Upsetters- Return of Django.
7- Who is the coolest guy and girl in Tokyo at the moment?
Galliano from Cannabis is a great dresser. All of Roc Trax are mega cool, in an electro way. As for the girls… I like the way that hairdressers in Tokyo look, and I like how indie girls dress.
Guys- in nice suits (I’m not gay).
Girls- in birthday suits (see above).
8- Recommend something new to our readers.
Our parties! We’re throwing our first madchester/acid house party on 11/06 at Trump House, and then another Short Pants Party on 12/04 at Shibuya SECO, with live bands and a very strong DJ lineup! We’ll announce details soon…

9- Fuji Rock or Summer Sonic?
Fuji Rock! Best festival in the world! The atmosphere and setting is indescribable.
…Neither.
10- Tokyo or Osaka?
Tokyo…best city I’ve ever been to, with the exception of New York (…maybe)! Never been to Osaka, I’d like to go though.
