Tokyoheads – Yasumasa Yonehara

Yasumasa Yonehara, or yONE as he is also known is one of Japan’s most celebrated and popular photographers.

He basically has the best job in Japan, taking fantastic pictures of beautiful women amongst other cool shit. His pictures have appeared in numerous magazines and ad campaigns the world over, as well as being ripped off by American Apparel he also dabbles in a little bit of blogging on Hypebeast and Upper Playground.

1- What is going to be big this year?

Style called Oraora-Kei that emphasizes Japanese Wa-style hoods. Macho is it’s basis.

2- Who is your favorite band/artist/producer of all time?

Shinsei Kamatte Chan

3- Where is your favorite place in Tokyo?

Harajuku where my office is, Aoyama where my studio is, and Meguro where my home and hiding place are.

4- What are you favorite fashion brands/styles?

PRODUCT. SWAGGER. WeSC… My concept, when I coordinate my outfit in a street style I don’t wear high brands.

5- What is the last thing you bought?

An art book, “Ranpo Panorama” by Suehiro Maruo

6- What is the last song you listened to?

“SUN KING” by BEATLES. I like side B of “Abbey Road” a lot.

7- Who is the coolest guy AND the coolest girl on the tokyo party scene at the moment?

Verbal and Yoon

8- Please recommend a new band, dj, designer or artist to our readers.

Masakazu Takatori

9- Fuji Rock or Summer Sonic?

Neither because I don’t do the outdoors.

10- Tokyo or Osaka?

Tokyo when I want to go for being cool. Osaka when I want to be in the mood for locals.

Finally, what do you never leave your house without?

Digital camera (CX2) and i-touch.
